Why Qamara exists
Qamara started at home. When my wife's period-tracking subscription ended, I wanted to give her something simple that didn't cost money every month or treat her health data as a product.
Then it seemed obvious: every woman deserves that, whatever her age, background or situation. So Qamara is free for everyone, with no catch.
The name comes from the Arabic for "moonlit". The moon's cycle and the menstrual cycle have been linked across cultures for thousands of years.

Questions
Is Qamara really free?
Yes. There are no subscriptions, in-app purchases or ads, and there never will be.
How accurate are the predictions?
Qamara averages your recent cycles to predict your next period. For most people with regular cycles it's accurate to within a few days, and it improves as you log more. Fertile days are estimates and should not be used as contraception.
What happens to my data if I get a new phone?
If you choose iCloud backup, your data syncs to your own private iCloud and appears on your new iPhone automatically. Qamara also saves a weekly backup file you can find in the Files app.
Can I move my data from another app?
Yes. Ask your current app for a copy of your data (in Flo: Help › Contact us, and request a JSON file). Then in Qamara go to Settings › Import from another period app and choose the file.
Do I have to log symptoms or sex?
No. Only your period dates are used for predictions. Everything else is optional, and sexual activity logging is hidden unless you turn it on.
Is Qamara a medical device?
No. Qamara is for general information and awareness. It isn't medical advice or birth control. Talk to a doctor about anything that worries you.
